March in Crested Butte

Most will agree March is the best month to ski in Crested Butte, with 233 inches of snow and bluebird sunny days. It’s spring skiing at its best! And with the long days, aprés skiing doesn’t get any better.

Market Conditions

New listings are down 46%, and under-contracts are down 52%. Months supply of inventory is at 5 (if no new homes came on the market, in 5 months, inventory would be at zero). Our market has slowed, and the number of sales is down; some will say it’s the economy and rising rates, yet it’s hard to know the true story as our low inventory is undoubtedly playing a part. I do know that ever since Vail Resorts acquired Crested Butte’s ski resort, we have been found, and thousands have come to Crested Butte for the first time and fallen in love with our mountain and community. Tourism and real estate sales tend to go hand in hand. Increased tourism also leads to higher rental income making it more affordable to buy an investment property.
