February Happenings

AlpenPhunk Music Festival – Music every night from February 1st – February 6th at the Public House. Doors at 8:00 pm. The first annual funk music festival, featuring a wide variety of musicians from many different bands.
Alley Loop Nordic Race – February 5th at 9:00 am. The 35th annual Alley Loop is not your typical Nordic Marathon. It stands both as a premier American Birkebeiner Qualifying event, in addition to being Crested Butte’s most outrageous costume party of the year!

Galactic & the Motet Concerts – February 6th & February 11th the Center for the Arts presents two amazing bands. Galactic is a La quintet straight from New Orleans and has been playing together for 25 years. The Motet has inspired the world with its unique style of dance music. They traverse the lines between funk, soul, jazz, and rock.

Donavon Frankenreiter – February 10th. Doors open at 8:00 pm at the Public House. Donavon has been traveling the globe, first as a pro surfer and now as a musician. Their upbeat vibe is worth catching.

Nordic Community Race – February 10th, 15th, & 19th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. CB Nordic’s Pinnacle Orthopedics Community Race series is bigger and better than ever! 10 races across the valley will allow you to have fun and stay fit all winter.

Chocolate Tasting Experience – February 10th at the Crested Butte Library from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Get ready for Valentine’s day with a Chocolate tasting. Join Karen Fienbery, the Chocolate Enthusiast of CB for a guided, and delicious evening.  Learn how the cacao origin affects flavor and hear fun stories about chocolate makers.

Valentines Day Poetry, Chocolate, & Wine – February 14th from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the Center for the Arts. Treat yourself to an evening of Buckel Family Wine, chocolate, and some very romantic poetry read by a panel of professional actors. Tickets include a flight of four wines, gourmet treats from the Chocolate Enthusiast, and a whole lot of loving entertainment.

Historic Winter Pub Crawl – February 20th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Join the Museum for their winter historic pub crawl. Enjoy libations and a light snack at three different local pubs. Local historians will present at each location and crawlers will get a CB museum pub mug to take home.

Blister Summit – February 20th & 24th the Elevation hotel & spa presents the Blister Summit. The only consumer-focused gear test and demo event in the world. Test skis and snowboards, talk to company founders, ride with professional athletes, and enjoy nightly panels.

Interpretive In-House Museum Tour – Every Friday morning from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Crested Butte Museum. Learn a brief history of Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley while focusing on each exhibit and the old Conoco, that the museum calls home. The informative staff can help paint a picture of our rich history.

Yurt Dinners & Brunch at Mountain Meadows – Available throughout the winter. This is truly a magical experience. Ski or snowshoe out to the yurt surrounded by majestic peaks nestled within the pines. Enjoy a gourmet dinner with fine beverages. This is truly an evening never to be forgotten. This experience fills up fast, so please click the link above if you are interested.

Market Conditions

New listings are down 10% and under contracts are down 63%. We currently have $72M under contract. Months supply of inventory in Crested Butte, Skyland, and CB South is 1.4 (if no new listings come on the market, in 1.4 months, inventory would be at zero). Months supply of inventory in Mt Crested Butte is 1.6. With this low inventory, we are still in a seller’s market. I believe that will continue through 2022.

Vail Resorts Update

Crested Butte Mountain Resort, ski season is underway. The late December record snowfall gave our mountain the snow coverage it needed to open up all the extreme terrain! If you dare, you can venture to areas like Third Bowl, Phoenix, Spellbound, and the Front Side. It is truly a special time here in Crested Butte.

Other than President Weekend, visitor numbers drop down significantly through February. This is a great time to come to the Valley to avoid larger crowds and shorter lift lines. For more detail, see the Gunnison Crested Butte Travel website.
