December in Crested Butte

With two storms over the Thanksgiving Holiday, December is off to a great start.  Photo below from Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

December Events;

December 4th and 11th – PYOP at Montanya Distillers
Get in the holiday spirit and paint your own pottery while enjoying rum drinks!

December 6th – Center for the Arts Presents Matisyahu
Doors open at 7:30.  Show starts at 8:00.

December 7th – Light up the Night
Light up the tree at Mountaineer Square around the fire pit, with s’mores, cocoa, music, and photos.

December 7th – Avy Awareness Night
Beer, Pizza and Avalanche Awareness!

December 7th – The 25th Annual Holiday Bazaar
From 10:00 – 4:00 at the Crested Butte Community School Multipurpose room.

December 8th – Santa Night at the Museum
Enjoy cocoa, cookies, and crafts plus free admission to the museum!

December 12th – Parks and Wildlife of South Africa
Join photographer Arden Anderson at our Crested Butte Library as he shares impressive tales and images of his time in South Africa.

December 14th – Literary Pub Tour de la Center
Enjoy appetizers and cocktails and a duo of readers while touring the new Center for the Arts building.

December 14th – Movie Night at the Museum
The 1977 thriller Snowbeast!  Filmed in Crested Butte.

December 17th – 20th – Rock on Ice
The Rock on Ice Team returns to Mt Crested Butte for an ice carving festival in celebration of the holiday season.

December 21st – Magic Meadow Yurt Dinners
If you’ve never had a gourmet dinner at the Yurt, this is a must-do event!  This is a reoccurring event with 8 more December dates to pick from.

December 21st and 28th – Historic Walking Tour
Learn more about this amazing town with a Historic Walking Tour.  Meet at 2:00 in front of the CB Heritage Museum.

December 24th – Santa’s Sleigh
Santa comes to the base area for apres ski.  Come to Butte 66 for a hot cocoa bar, cookie decorating and candlelit caroling with local musicians.

December 27th and 28th – Center for the Arts Presents Leftover Salmon
A locals’ favorite!  Doors open at 7:30.  Show at 8:00.
December 29th – Warren Miller’s Timeless
Who doesn’t love a Warren Miller film!  Showing at The Center for the Arts.
December 31st – New Year’s Eve Torchlit Parade and Fireworks
A great way to start your New Year’s Eve celebration!

If skiing is not your thing…Crested Butte has plenty of other outdoor activities; Fat BikingSnowshoeingIce SkatingSleddingDog SleddingHorseback Riding/Sleigh Rides and Snowmobiling.
