Market Conditions

New listings are down 40%, and under-contracts are down 48%. Months supply of inventory is at 6 (if no new homes came on the market, in 6 months, inventory would be at zero). Our market has slowed, and the number of sales is down; certainly, the economy and rising rates have contributed, yet it’s hard to know the true story as our low inventory is also playing a part. Ever since Vail Resorts acquired Crested Butte’s ski resort, we have been found, and thousands have come to Crested Butte for the first time and fallen in love with our mountain and community. Tourism and real estate sales tend to go hand in hand. Increased tourism also leads to higher rental income, making buying an investment property more affordable.
