The 4th of July is always jam-packed with fun stuff to do in downtown Crested Butte. It is a patriotic celebration full of music, food, races, and fun. The town puts on one of the best celebrations in the country with perfect mountain summer weather, you won’t want to miss it.
Join Crested Butte this year to celebrate America’s birthday with the country’s biggest small-town festival. Get here early to enjoy a weekend of hiking, biking, fishing, or swimming in the mountains around Crested Butte before joining the revelries on Elk Avenue all day on Wednesday!

Pancake Breakfast at the Crested Butte Fire & EMS Department
7:00-10:00 AM
Start the day with the traditional early morning Pancake Breakfast. Due to the popularity of this event, plan to wait in line for a little while. But don’t fret — there will be lots of entertainment while you wait. And if you’re lucky, your wee-ones may get to catch a ride in the fire truck’s cherry-picker!
50th Annual Gothic to Crested Butte 1/3 Marathon Starts

This exciting, scenic annual race is a 1/3 marathon, held on the 4th of July, that takes participants from the town of Gothic into the heart of Crested Butte, finishing on Elk Avenue. This race, in its 50th year as of 2018, benefits the Rocky Mountain Research Laboratory, an organization that supports biological and ecological scientific research in Gothic and the surrounding area.

The food court at 3rd and Elk Avenue is popular with the hungry people who have just run the 8 miles into town from Gothic as well as the folks who slept in and missed the pancake breakfast and people enjoying day two of the One World Music Festival.
Fourth of July Parade!

Expect funky, fun and good-natured laughter as people line Crested Butte’s Elk Avenue for the July 4th parade. There is plenty of local flavors that adds humor and festivity to the scene. There are local Crested Butte groups who annually try to outdo each other for the more outrageous costume. The parade is fun for the whole family and there is plenty of viewing space along Elk Avenue.

Outdoor Concert at Crested Butte Mountain Resort

Come up to the Red Lady stage at the CBMR base area to jam out to Floodgate Operators and their awesome bluegrass music!

The free concert starts at 7:30 pm. Presented in collaboration with Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber and the towns of Mt. Crested Butte and Crested Butte. Bring your dancing shoes and don’t miss the FUN!
